The Nutcracker

Prima Ballet School presents its very own classical ballet with full choreography, specially created for our community. The Nutcracker ensemble was created out of the desire to share the performing arts. The Nutcracker tradition has come to represent a yearly celebration of the importance of the arts in communities all around the globe.

Nutcracker 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of Prima hosting the 2020 Nutcracker Production that has become a favourite Christmas tradition of many members of our community. Due to COVID-19 we are simply unable to produce any productions this year. Please keep posted as we are planning to host the 2021 Production.

Thank You! 2019

We extend our appreciation and heartfelt thanks for your support at our 10th Anniversary Nutcracker Edition. The entire ensemble cast and guest artists were thoroughly grateful to perform to a full house on December 21 and December 22, 2019. A huge thank you to our guest artists: Corson Kolynko from Winnipeg Ballet School as our Snow Prince & LVIV Dance Troupe.

In addition, Prima Ballet School would like to acknowledge a new guest and blogger, Jackie Morra. Here is her personal review:

Bravo to Prima Ballet’s Nutcracker! During the holiday season I really enjoy sharing moments and creating memories with my family. One of the things I always wanted to do was see a live production of the Nutcracker. I was pleased to find that locally, Prima Ballet School in Brooklin produced an annual presentation of the traditional, classic at the Oshawa Little Theatre. I was very impressed with the choreography and professionalism of the students. It was wonderful to see students from toddlers to teens, performing with such focus and enthusiasm. We loved the stunning and colourful costumes including reindeer, fairies, peacocks, rats, dolls, princesses and of course the Nutcracker Prince. The set design had such attention to detail and provided the perfect backdrop to a wonderful story. The effort of everyone involved definitely does not go unnoticed, bravo to Prima Ballet School for reviving my appreciation of the graceful art of ballet and perhaps the start of a new annual tradition. See you next year!  Jackie Morra
